How copyright notices, counter-notices, and fair use work on FlareNetwork

Overview

FlareNetwork respects copyright and follows the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If a video uses your work without permission, you can send us a notice. If your video is taken down by mistake, you can send a counter-notice and get it back.

  1. A rights holder sends a notice. We check that it is complete. We do not judge who is right.
  2. We take the video down and tell the creator, with a copy of the notice.
  3. The creator can file a counter-notice. We send it to the rights holder.
  4. The video comes back 10 to 14 business days later, unless the rights holder tells us they have filed a court action.

We do not scan uploads with automated matching systems. A takedown only starts with a notice sent by a person, and a creator always has a way to answer it.

Is someone using your work without permission?

Use the notice form if you have a FlareNetwork account, or send your notice to our designated agent by email or mail. Both are equally valid.

Only send a notice for work you own or are authorized to represent. Knowingly misrepresenting that a video infringes can make you liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f) and can get your account terminated.
